Sterlite Power commissions 400 kV Nangalbibra–Bongaigaon line in India

Sterlite Power Limited has successfully commissioned the 400 kV double-circuit (D/C) Nangalbibra–Bongaigaon transmission line covering approximately 300 circuit km.

It includes a 123 km, 400 kV direct current (DC) transmission line connecting Bongaigaon in Assam to a greenfield substation at Nangalbibra in Meghalaya, initially operated at 220 kV and crossing the Brahmaputra river. Additionally, the project features a 220/132 kV substation at Nangalbibra with 2×160 MVA transformation capacity, allowing future expansion to 400 kV to support increasing load demands. A 132 kV D/C transmission line (19 km) connects Hatsinghmari in Assam to Ampati in Meghalaya, providing an additional power source for the region.
