The Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation has approved the transfer of approximately 786 hectares of land under the Nagpur (MIHAN) International airport project. Formalities of the land transfer are likely to be completed by April 2025. The project includes the extension of the runway from 3,200 m to 3,600 m, provision of additional parallel runway of 4,000 m x 60 m capable of handling Airbus A380 and similar aircraft, construction of a semi circular terminal building spanning 3 million square feet, construction of a cargo complex and a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility, a taxiway connecting two parallel runways and terminal, 16 parking bays and other associated works such as underground fuel hydrant systems, hotels, a shopping complex and entertainment facilities. The project will have a handling capacity of 6.93 million passengers per annum and 900,000 tonnes of cargo.
