Southern Railway has acquired about 90 per cent land for the Tindivanam-Nagari New Railway Line Project in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Besides, work is progressing on the remaining 10 per cent.
The project involves laying a 184.45 km long railway line between Tindivanam and Nagari in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, respectively with an investment of Rs 36.2 billion. It was proposed in the Railway Budget 2006-07 and aims to help in the development of the silk industry in Arani. It would help strengthen the trade and cultural links of Nagari, the loom town and create a congenial atmosphere for boosting trade links with northern Tamil Nadu.
