10.4 km excavation work completed on Zojila Pass Tunnel Project in Jammu and Kashmir

About 10.4 km of excavation work has been completed on the Zojila Pass Tunnel Project (NH-1D).

The project involves construction of a two-lane bi-directional Zojila Tunnel with parallel escape (egress) tunnel over Zojila Pass from 95 km to 118 km on Srinagar-Leh road on the National Highway (NH)-1D in Jammu and Kashmir. The project is a part of Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan (PMRP) and aims at providing an all-weather road to ensure undisrupted round-the-year connectivity between Ladakh and Srinagar. The total project length is 14.31 km including 14.15 km long main tunnel (with cut and cover portals) and 37.02 m and 30 m long cut and cover portals of east and west portals, respectively.
