Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has partnered with Volks Energie to develop India’s first solar power plant equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery energy storage systems for oil and gas pipelines.
This initiative will span 14 strategic locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Volks Energie will deploy a combined battery capacity of 1.6 MWh, with Engineers India Limited managing the project as a consultant. The deployment of LFP batteries offers multiple advantages, including improved safety, extended battery lifespan, and higher energy density compared to traditional batteries. Volks Energie will equip the systems with advanced safety features, such as automatic fire suppression, ensuring the protection of sensitive equipment at the pipeline stations.
