The Commissioner of Railway Safety conducted a safety inspection on the 18 km long Katra-Reasi section of the Jammu-Udhampur-Katra-Qazigund-Baramulla New Rail Line Project on January 7, 2025 and January 8, 2025.
The project involves laying of a 345 km long new railway line joining the Kashmir Valley with the Indian Railways (IR) network from Jammu to Baramulla via Udhampur, Katra and Qazigund with an investment of Rs 425 billion. It is expected to provide an alternative and reliable transportation system to Jammu and Kashmir.
