Chennai Port handled 5.326 million metric tonnes (mmt) of cargo in December 2024, reaching this milestone for the first time in 15 years. Further, the port registered a throughput of 180,686 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during December 2024 surpassing its previous record of handling 170,606 TEUs in August 2024.
Meanwhile, Haldia Container Terminal has set a new milestone by handling 35 vessels and 20,087 TEUs in December 2024. The terminal has surpassed its previous record of handling 18,733 TEUs.
