Ministry of Railways registers capex of 76 per cent during April-December 2024 

The Ministry of Railways (MoR) has registered capital expenditure (capex) of 76 per cent during April-December 2024, out of the total budget estimate (BE) for the financial year (FY) 2024-25. This includes an expenditure of Rs 1.91 trillion incurred from the gross budgetary support (GBS), Rs 8.24 billion from the internal and extra budgetary resources (IEBR), and Rs 87.33 billion from the extra budgetary resources for public private partnership (PPP). Furthermore, a total capex of Rs 2.02 trillion has been registered as of January 5, 2025.

Besides, MoR has spent Rs 817.13 billion on capacity augmentation, Rs 403.54 billion on rolling stock, Rs 280.63 billion on safety-related works, and Rs 82.38 billion on customer amenities, among others, during FY 2024-25 (till December 2024).
