The Union Government inaugurated the new Jammu railway division of Indian Railways (IR) on January 6, 2025. The division covers an area of 742 km and includes sections such as Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal-Pathankot, Batala-Pathankot, and Pathankot-Joginder Nagar.
Further, the foundation stone for the Rayagada railway division building of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone was also laid. This will enhance connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and nearby regions.
