Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata plans to increase cargo handling capacity of Haldia Dock Complex

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata is planning to increase the total cargo handling capacity of the Haldia Dock Complex by around 50 per cent in the next five years. Currently, it handles about 50 million metric tonnes (mmt) of cargo and the capacity is expected to increase to around 75 mmt by 2030. The proposed capacity augmentation and mechanisation will be through public-private partnership mode with the total outlay of around Rs 20 billion.

Apart from this, another project at Shalukkhali is being explored to increase the liquid cargo handling capacity. This will be a greenfield project.
