Test runs were conducted on the Motijheel-Kanpur Central stretch under the Kanpur metro rail project phase-I on December 18, 2024. Besides, trial runs are likely to commence soon on the same stretch.
The stations covered under the stretch are Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, Nayaganj, and Kanpur Central. Additionally, tunnel works are advancing rapidly on the Swadeshi Cotton Mill-Kanpur Central stretch under the project.
The Kanpur metro project involves the development of a 33 km long metro rail system in Uttar Pradesh at an investment of Rs 110.76 billion.
