Vashi Bridge, Mumbai-bound section of Thane Creek Bridge to open by February 2024

The Mumbai-bound section of the Thane Creek Bridge, also known as Vashi Bridge, is set to open by the end of February 2024. Serving as a critical link within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the bridge facilitates daily traffic of approximately 64,300 vehicles, and its completion is expected to significantly alleviate congestion on the busy Vashi Bridge corridor.

Constructed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the new bridge marks the fourth structure spanning the Thane Creek and is a pivotal component of efforts to streamline traffic in the region. Together, the two bridges extend 3.14 km. The superstructure of the Mumbai-bound bridge has been completed, with final touches such as crash barrier installation, expansion joints, lighting, and electrical systems currently underway.
