Northern Railway completed the ballastless track work for the 3.2 km long tunnel T-33 connecting Katra to Reasi in connection with the Jammu-Udhampur-Katra-Qazigund-Baramulla new rail line project. With this, the final track works of the project are completed.
The project involves laying of a 345 km long new railway line joining the Kashmir valley with the Indian Railway’s network from Jammu to Baramulla via Udhampur, Katra and Qazigund with an investment of Rs 425 billion. It is expected to provide an alternative and reliable transportation system to Jammu and Kashmir.
