The government of Haryana has notified various services including water-sector related services of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) under the Right to Service Act, 2014. As per the new guidelines, both the authorities are required to provide new drainage connections within 12 days, while issues like pipe overflows and water leakages must be resolved within three days. Problems related to manhole blockages or overflows associated with the main sewer line are to be addressed within seven days.
In addition to this, water supply will be restored within three days in case of minor problems, such as machinery breakdowns, electrical issues, etc. However, for major issues like untreated water shortages, transformer burnouts, or main line leaks, water restoration will take up to 10 days. Furthermore, duplicate water and sewer bills will be issued within three days, and corrections relating to billing errors will be made within 10 days.
