RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) slashed cash reserve ratio (CRR) by 50 bps to 4 per cent in monetary policy commitee (MPC) meeting December 2024. The repo rate remained unchanged at 6.5 per cent for the 11th time. The RBI commented price stability is a crucial factor. Additionaly, MPC revised its gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate to 6.6 per cent from 7.2 per cent for 2024-25. Consumer price index (CPI) is estimated to be 4.8 per cent for 2024-25.
