The Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) is set to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) regarding the reuse of the treated water from the sewage treatment plants (STP) for horticulture purposes.
The DPR is expected to be finalised in around three months. This treated water is planned to be reused for irrigating Faridabad’s parks and green belts. The city has around 700 parks located in 46 civic wards. Their plantation requires a water supply of up to 50 million litres per day. The initiative also aims to improve the availability of drinking water.
Moreover, additional STPs have been directed to be set up near the parks and the green belts. Reportedly, FMDA will also carry out the maintenance of major sewer lines in Faridabad in addition to supervising the water supply in the parks.
