The Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved the Visakhapatnam metro rail project phase-I on December 2, 2024.
The project involves development of a 46.23 km light metro in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It spans across three corridors namely, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to Kommadi (corridor 1, 34.40 km), Gurudwara Junction to Old Post Office (corridor 2, 5.08 km), and Thatichetlapalem to China Waltair (corridor 3, 6.75 km). The project entails investment of Rs 114.98 billion.
