The central government has announced an investment of Rs 10.1 billion for projects along the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers in Assam. This includes an investment of Rs 966 million for a slipway project in Majuli under the Sagarmala scheme.
Besides, Rs 4.74 billion has been sanctioned for the comprehensive development of National Waterway 2 (NW2) project and is nearly 80 per cent complete.
Other projects include an approach road linking Pandu Port to National Highway (NH)-27 and a ship repair facility at Pandu, with an estimated cost of Rs 3.88 billion, with more than 60 per cent progress achieved. These projects aim to enhance connectivity and boost inland water transport in the region.
