Northern Railways commences preparation of DPR for Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar high speed rail corridor project in Delhi and Punjab

Northern Railway (NR) in collaboration with Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) has commenced the preparation for detailed project report (DPR) for the Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar high-speed rail corridor project. Besides, a notification for land acquisition for 321 villages is expected to be issued soon.

The project involves the development of a 459 km long high-speed rail (HSR) corridor between Delhi and Amritsar via Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar, in Delhi and Punjab, respectively. The proposed rail corridor, once commissioned, is expected to cut down the travel time between the two cities from 6-7 hours to less than two and a half hours.
