Trial for India’s first hydrogen train to commence between Jind and Sonipat stations

The final trial for India’s first hydrogen train, to be conducted between Jind and Sonipat stations, is expected to take place during January-March 2025. The design for this train has been completed and it will consist of eight passenger coaches, with the capacity to carry 2,638 passengers on a single journey, and three coaches for storing hydrogen cylinders. Also, the train will be able to attain a maximum speed of 110 kilometres per hour (kmph) and is estimated to cost around Rs 800 million.

Besides, a toy model of the train was launched at the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) stadium in Lucknow on November 26, 2024.
