Alstom Transport India Limited delivered the first train for package RS17 under the Delhi metro project phase-iv on November 15, 2024 at Mukundpur Depot.
Package RS17 involves design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and training of 234 standard gauge cars for the Mukundpur-Maujpur corridor and Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor in Part A; and 54 standard gauge cars for Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor in Part B. Alstom was awarded the contract for the same in October 2022.
Delhi metro project – phase IV involves development of a 103.93 km long metro rail network comprising six corridors with an investment of Rs 468 billion. The three corridors to be developed on a priority basis are Maujpur-Mukundpur (12.31 km), Janakpuri West-RK Ashram (29.26 km) and Aerocity-Tughlakabad (23.62 km). In March 2024, the corridor 2 (Inderlok-Indraprastha) and corridor 6 (Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block) were approved by the Central Government at an investment of Rs 83.99 billion.
