The Trichy International Airport, Tamil Nadu recently witnessed the operationalisation of a modern inline baggage handling system (ILBHS).
The facility worth Rs 980 million was introduced by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), aiming to enhance passenger convenience and security. It is the 12th airport in the country to adopt the facility.
With the ILBHS, baggage screening and handling is automated, and passengers can directly drop baggage at the counters without having to scan it at the standalone x-ray machines near the check-in counters.
The ILBHS facility ensures the highest standards of baggage safety and incorporates a four-level security screening process.
