As per the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), around 25 national highway projects covering 468.71 km in Nagaland are progressing, with a total investment of Rs 77.11 billion. This includes the delayed four-laning of the Dimapur-Kohima Road on NH-29 under the SARDP-NE initiative. Of its three packages, only Package-II (13.71 km) is fully completed, while Package-I (14.94 km) near Pagla Pahar is completed but pending certification. Frequent rockslides continue to impact this stretch, with landslides in September 2024 damaging road sections.
For Package-III (14.21 km), which includes the Dzüdza area, work is 16.82 per cent complete and expected to be operational by September 2025. The Dimapur Bypass connecting NH-29 is projected to be completed by December 2024, while the Kohima-Mao road upgrade on NH-2, at 74.23 per cent progress, is scheduled for completion in February 2025.
