The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a letter of approval accepting the transfer of about 472.325 acres of land under the Coimbatore Airport expansion project.
The project involves the expansion of the Coimbatore airport in Tamil Nadu. It includes extension of the runway from the existing 9,550 feet (2,895 m) to 12,500 feet (3,800 m) to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380, construction of a new terminal building, a parallel taxiway and two parking bays and expansion of the existing terminal.
