Karnataka government seeks PSU funding for Bengaluru’s Peripheral Ring Road project worth Rs 270 billion

The government of Karnataka is advancing Bengaluru’s long-delayed Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project by seeking financial support from public sector undertakings (PSUs). Renamed the “Bengaluru Business Corridor” in January 2024, the 73 km, eight-lane road will also include a service line and metro rail track, with an estimated cost of Rs 270 billion covering both construction and land acquisition. The government aims to issue tenders for the project within the next six months.

Efforts are underway to finalise awards for compensating landowners, with 2,400 acres required to develop the corridor. Once completed, the PRR is expected to enhance connectivity around Bengaluru, alleviate traffic congestion, and foster economic growth in the region.
