Tunnel boring machine (TBM) S-840B has achieved the final breakthrough at Nagawara station for package RT-04 under the Bengaluru metro rail phase II project. It was commissioned at Kadugondanahalli station in April 2024 and travelled for 937 metres till Nagawara station.
Package RT-04 involves building a total of 6.34 km twin tunnels, about 360 metres ramp at Nagawara, and four stations at Tannery Road, Venkateshpura, Kadugundanahalli (formerly Arabic College) and Nagawara. ITD Cementation India Limited was awarded the contract for the same.
The project involves construction of four extensions and two new lines covering a length of 72.09 km (13.79 km underground and 58.3 km elevated), in Karnataka at an investment of Rs 306.95 billion.
