CUMTA and TuTr Hyperloop plan to develop hyperloop technology connecting Meenambakkam airport to Parandur airport

Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) in collaboration with TuTr Hyperloop Private Limited is planning to develop a hyperloop, with a capacity of around 40 passengers, connecting Meenambakkam airport to Parandur airport in Tamil Nadu. The hyperloop pods operate at a faster speed through magnetic levitation, inside a vacuum tube, and have a motor magnet braking system along with air compressors installed for lowering the speed.

Further, TuTr hyperloop is likely to commence the trials of the technology at a speed of 600 km per hour (kmph), after its initial testing at the speed of 100-150 kmph in a 410 m long and 2 m diameter test facility at the IIT Madras discovery campus in Thaiyur. Following this, it will step for the approval from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
