During September 2024, the Indian major ports handled 65.6 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic, compared to 61.92 mt in September 2023, registering a growth of 5.94 per cent. Port-wise, the Deendayal Port handled the maximum cargo at 12.06 mt during September 2024, followed by Paradip Port (10.56 mt) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port (7.38 mt).
The overseas cargo handled at the major ports increased by 8.46 per cent from 46.8 mt during September 2023 to 50.76 mt during September 2024.
Meanwhile, the coastal cargo handled at the major ports decreased by 1.85 per cent from 15.12 mt during September 2023 to 14.84 mt during September 2024.
