The government of Andhra Pradesh flagged off continuation of works for the Mulapeta (Bhavanapadu) greenfield port project on October 21, 2024. It is expected to be completed by June 2025.
The project involves development of an all-weather port at Bhavanapadu in Sreekakulam district on engineering, procurement and construction basis. The proposed port will have a capacity of 23.53 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) developed under phase I and another 83.3 mtpa under phase II. The project is estimated to cost over Rs 43.62 billion.
