MoRTH approves 50 national highway projects for Manipur

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved 50 national highway projects in Manipur, covering a total length of 1,026 km. Of these, 44 projects spanning 902 km are in the state’s hilly regions, with 36 projects, valued at Rs 120 billion and extending over 777 km, currently under progress. Additionally, eight projects totalling 125 km have been completed.

Under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, the ministry has approved 57 out of 111 works prioritised by the state government, based on the balance of sanctions (BoS) ratio, which now stands at 9.81, higher than the permissible ratio of 4 for hilly states. For 2024-25, the MoRTH has included two national highway projects in its annual plan, covering 90 km at a cost of Rs 13.50 billion, both situated in the hills of Manipur.
