The ninth rolling stock, comprising a 3-car train set, has been added to the existing fleet of eight train sets for the Indore metro at the Gandhi Nagar Depot along the 33.53 km yellow line. So far, Indore metro has received 27 coaches.
To ensure smooth operations before the commercial launch, Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) has initiated nightly trial runs of the metro service from Gandhi Nagar to Super corridor 3 along the super-priority corridor over the next four to five days.
The MPMRCL has awarded a rolling stock contract to Alstom India, valued at Rs 32.48 billion. This contract encompasses the supply of train sets for both Indore and Bhopal metro systems under the package BH-IN-02. As per the contract, Alstom will deliver 25 train sets (75 coaches) for Indore metro and 27 train sets (81 coaches) for Bhopal metro.
These innovative coaches are being produced at Alstom’s facility in Baroda. In addition to supplying the coaches, Alstom will provide maintenance service for 15 years and provide a communication-based train control signalling system.
