Indian Railway (IR) has invested Rs 1,646.05 billion in Maharashtra. This includes 41 ongoing projects covering a length of 5,877 km with an expected cost of Rs 815.8 billion, construction of 318 road over bridges (ROBs) and road under bridges (RUBs) at Rs 56.15 billion, Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) project covering 178 km at Rs 126.97 billion, and redevelopment work of 132 stations at Rs 64.11 billion among others.
Besides, during 2014-24, in Maharashtra, IR has achieved 100 per cent electrification of a total 3,513 km of its rail networks, construction of a total of 1,830 km of new tracks and 929 ROBs and RUBs.
