Government plans to pump over Rs 920 billion for airports

The government is planning to pump more than approximately Rs 920 billion for the construction of new airports, and for the expansion of existing ones.

By 2025, India is expected to have 200 airports, and 200 more are planned to be developed over the next 20 to 25 years.

The year has witnessed airlines increase their capacity by almost 9 per cent, with 240 million seats across both domestic and international markets.

Further, the government is also carrying out talks with Pratt & Whitney to settle engine problems so that grounded aircraft can recommence operations soon.
