Chennai Resilience Centre signs MoU with TNGCC to strengthen water and waste management in Chennai

The Chennai Resilience Centre has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company (TNGCC) to implement green infrastructure projects in Chennai. They aim to strengthen water and waste management practices and climate resilience in the city.

In order to reduce the city’s water stress and recharge groundwater levels, the alliance is planning to replicate the nature-based water balance model adopted in Little Flower Convent, in two government schools. This solution treats around 27,000 litres of wastewater at present. Additionally, transformation of localities like Kasturba Nagar into zero waste areas and prevention of plastic waste from reaching water sources are other important projects being undertaken.
