Indian Railway (IR) has unveiled the first look of the Vande Cargo train with an aim to facilitate parcel delivery with exceptional speed and efficiency. The train is modelled after modern air cargo systems and will be equipped with several advanced features and security measures. A key feature of the train will be its scheduled service model, which will allow businesses to plan their shipments more effectively.
Besides, IR is likely to launch the freight version of Vande Bharat trains targeting routes between the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) and Mumbai, Maharashtra. These trains will utilise freight electric multiple unit rolling stock built on the Vande Bharat platform and are expected to operate at speed of up to 160 kmph.
