Indian Railway (IR) has planned to deploy a total of 7.5 million artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, across its networks, with an investment of Rs 150 billion. IR plans to install these cameras on a total of 40,000 coaches, 14,000 locomotives and 6,000 electric multiple units (EMUs).
Besides, a central data centre will be established to store the footage recorded from these cameras. Reportedly, the tenders for deployment of the same are likely to be invited within three months.
