Indian Railway (IR) has achieved total freight loading of 653.22 million tonnes during April-August 2024, an increase of 2.92 per cent over the corresponding period of the last year. During August 2024, IR has registered a total freight loading of 126.97 mt. Further, coal loading of 333.4 mt was recorded during April-August 2024, in comparison to the 266.71 mt achieved in April-August 2023.
Besides, the commodities facilitated by IR’s freight service include 75 types of iron and steel products, 54 types of minerals and ores, 48 types of coal and coke products, 39 types of petroleum products and gasses, and 37 types of foodgrains, among others.
