Agra metro phase 1 records two TBM breakthroughs on line 1

The Agra metro phase 1 project marked significant progress with two recent breakthroughs on line 1, achieved by the Afcons-Sam India Consortium.

The tunnel boring machines (TBMs) Ganga and Shivaji completed breakthroughs at SN Medical College Station and Raja Ki Mandi, respectively, bringing the total number of breakthroughs for the 7.93 km underground package AGCC-02 to 14. TBM Ganga, also known as TBM 324, is the second TBM deployed, while TBM Shivaji, also known as S-718C, is the third TBM deployed.

The consortium was awarded the Rs 18.2 billion contracts for this underground package in March 2022, with a deadline of 48 months, which involves constructing twin tunnels connecting seven stations.
