Gateway Terminals India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) to initiate providing shore power to vessels. The agreement aims to reduce carbon emissions from vessels during their port stay.
Initially, the shore power facility will be provided from the national grid. Once established, the port may purchase green energy through open access for shore power supply. The supply will be enabled for two ships simultaneously, eliminating the use of diesel at the port and additionally reducing noise pollution.
