North Western Railway achieves electrification of 5,312 rkm till August 2024 

North Western Railway has achieved electrification on 5,312 route km (rkm) of its networks till August 2024. This is 98 per cent of its cumulative broad-gauge network of 5,550 rkm. Currently, the zone is operating a total of 320 passenger trains on electric traction.

Reportedly, the electrification of sections including Jaisalmer-Ashapura Gomat (106 km), Phulera-Makrana (64 km) and Sarupsar-Anupgarh (58) km has been completed on August 7, 2024. Besides, electrification of Bichhiwada-Himmatnagar covering 70 km and Thayat-Hamira-Sanu covering 56 km is expected to be finished by September 30, 2024.
