Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a light metro in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on August 22, 2024. The estimated budget for the light metro project is between Rs 4-5 billion.
The joint venture of RMC and the Russian government will also provide recommendations on the implementation of electric city buses in Raipur. Additionally, they will evaluate Raipur’s sky-walk project to determine its suitability for the light metro system.
