The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has launched version 5.4 of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme. The bids for routes that were earlier cancelled would be invited under UDAN 5.4 as fresh bids. This is further expected to provide connectivity on unserved and underserved routes in the country.
Additionally, the MoCA also launched guidelines for seaplane operations in India, targeting to integrate its operations into the aviation landscape, creating jobs and fostering economic empowerment. The guidelines would facilitate seaplane operations under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) to leverage operations under a non-scheduled operator permit. Moreover, the extension of the viability gap funding under the RCS to seaplane operations would provide the initial fillip to the operators.
