Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned the 15.58 km long Chhaygaon-Mirza section of the Bongaigaon-Goalpara-Guwahati (Kamakhya) railway line doubling project.

The project, being implemented by NFR, involves doubling of the 176-km existing rail line between Bongaigaon, Goalpara and Guwahati in Assam with an investment of Rs 40.59 billion. It was sanctioned in the Railway Budget 2015-16 and is expected to decongest the existing rail line between Bongaigaon and Guwahati.
