P and R Infraprojects Limited has won a contract worth Rs 586.1 million for upgradation of the Kajauli water works under the 24X7 Manimajra Pilot Water Supply project in Chandigarh. Bids for the same were invited by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation in February 2024.
The scope of work includes upgradation of the Kajauli water works and the rehabilitation of the rising main.
The project involves new waterworks with four million gallons of additional storage, 13,700 smart meters, 20 km of new lines, and automated monitoring of the system. It is being implemented at Manimajra in Chandigarh in two phases on a pilot basis at an estimated cost of Rs 5.12 billion. Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has incorporated Chandigarh Smart City Limited as a special purpose vehicle for implementation of the project under the Smart City Mission. It is being funded by AFD and the European Union (EU). AFD will provide Rs 4.12 billion for the project on a loan basis. EU will also be giving a grant of Rs 1 billion for the project.
