Cabinet approves Tawa Junction-Vadhavan Port Road connectivity project in Maharashtra

The union cabinet has recently approved the Tawa Junction-Vadhavan Port Road connectivity project (NH-48). The central government has issued a declaration of National Highway (NH) for the same on August 12, 2024.

Besides, the National Highway Authority of India-Land Acquisition Committee has approved the alignment for the road connectivity and land acquisition notification is likely to be issued soon. Moreover, a tender for the construction of the initial 20 km of the road is expected to be issued soon.

The project involves construction of a 32 km long two-lane road to link Vadhavan Port in Palghar district of Maharashtra to NH-48. This road will be part of the dedicated connectivity to Vadhavan, with plans to extend it as required for full road connectivity to the port.
