The maximum permissible draft for the outer approach channel at New Mangalore Port (NMP) has been reduced to 13.75 metres with 10 metres height of rising tide. This has been done due to continuous siltation at the port, which occurs generally during monsoon season.
As per reports, the reduction of the maximum permissible draft has been done with immediate effect.
