The central government inaugurated the 24X7 Manimajra Pilot Water Supply Project (Chandigarh) on August 4, 2024.
The project involves new waterworks with four million gallons of additional storage, 13,700 smart meters, 20 km of new lines, and automated monitoring of the system.
The project has been implemented by Chandigarh Smart City Limited at a capital cost of Rs 750 million and Rs 850 million for 15 years of maintenance. It will benefit over 0.1 million residents in Manimajra, including the Modern Housing Complex, Shivalik Enclave, Indira Colony, Shastri Nagar and old Manimajra.
