The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has proposed a revised production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for containers to boost the manufacturing of shipping-grade containers. The ministry has reduced the quantum of the new PLI scheme to Rs 50 billion from Rs 110 billion and tenure has been reduced to three years from nine years earlier.
As per reports, the government is likely to set up a high-level committee to promote domestic shipping container manufacturing to boost the production of export-grade containers by 2026.
