Indian Railways (IR) has allocated Rs 11.12 billion for the deployment of KAVACH during 2024-25. At present, KAVACH has been installed on a total of 144 locomotives and covers 1,465 route km (rkm) of the South Central Railway’s network.
Currently, the progress on Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors (approximately 3,000 rkm) includes the installation of 364 units of telecom towers, laying of optical fibre cable on 4,275 km of distance, deployment of KAVACH trackside equipment on 1,384 rkm among others. Further, detailed project report and detailed estimate on another 6,000 rkm have already been approved by the IR.
