Western Railway (WR) has completed the gauge conversion work of the 5 km long Patalpani-Mhow (Dr. Ambedkarnagar) section under the Ratlam-Mhow-Khandwa-Akola gauge conversion project. Besides, speed trials for the same were conducted at the speed of 105 kmph on July 16, 2024.
The project involves the conversion of the existing 472.64 km long meter gauge (MG) line into a broad gauge railway line between Ratlam and Akola via Mhow and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, respectively at an investment of Rs 62.03 billion.
